The land evaluation is one of key factors for the land management planning of forest area. The result of the land evaluation gives informations of land use alternatives and necessary land management procedures base on the principle of suistainability forest management. The main purpose of this research is to define land capability, to evaluate land use base on land capability, and to give recomendation of land use and soil conservation to land which it’s use is unsuitable to land capability. Determination to land capability as base of evaluation is relying on three factors that is hidrology, climate and land form which is related to land use, land management and land productivity . The determination of land capability using Geographic Information Systems to analyze the suitability between land use and land capability is using the land use criteria according to Arsyad (2006). Remote sensing is used to identify land use and Landcover using SPOT image year 2007, study of library and field checking. The object of this study is in the permanent forest management unit or KPHP model unit II and III area in Banjar district. Keywords: Land Capability, GIS, Modelling.
